BAKED SWEET ONION CHEDDAR DIP

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped chives or green onions for garnish (optional)

Recipe Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar over the onions and continue cooking for another 5 minutes, until the onions are deeply caramelized.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the caramelized onions, grated cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  7. Garnish with chopped chives or green onions, if desired. Serve hot with your favorite dippers and enjoy!
