Classic Hibachi Chicken with Fried Rice and Vegetables

Recipe Directions:

Hibachi Chicken:

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper. Add chicken slices and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken slices and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through.
  3. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Fried Rice:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add beaten eggs and scramble until cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed. Stir in mixed vegetables and cook until tender.
  3. Add cooked rice and soy sauce to the skillet, stirring well to combine. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the rice is heated through.
  4. Return scrambled eggs to the skillet and mix with the rice and vegetables. Stir in sliced green onions and cook for another minute.
  5. Remove from heat and serve hot alongside the hibachi chicken.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Skillet or grill pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spatula or tongs
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Wok or large skillet (for fried rice)

How to Store Leftovers:

If you happen to have any leftovers (which is rare with such a delicious dish!), store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The hibachi chicken and fried rice will keep well for up to 3 days. When reheating, you can gently warm them in the microwave or reheat them in a skillet with a splash of water to prevent drying out.

Food and Drink Pairings:

To complement the vibrant flavors of this hibachi chicken and fried rice, consider serving it with a crisp and refreshing cucumber salad or a side of tangy pickled vegetables. For beverages, a glass of chilled sake or a fruity white wine would be an excellent choice to balance the savory notes of the dish.
