Southern Deep Fried Lobster

Southern Deep Fried Lobster is a decadent and indulgent way to enjoy lobster, combining the luxurious taste of this seafood with the crispy, comforting texture of deep-frying. This dish is perfect for special occasions or when you want to treat yourself to something truly special. Here’s how you can make it at home.

Ingredients:

  • 2 whole lobsters (about 1 to 1.5 pounds each), or 4 lobster tails
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

Preparing the Lobster:

  1. Clean the Lobsters: If using whole lobsters, start by boiling them for about 5-7 minutes in a large pot of salted water. This step is not necessary if you’re using pre-cooked lobster tails. Once boiled, place them in ice water to stop the cooking process. Then, remove the meat from the shell. If using lobster tails, simply cut the shell down the back with kitchen shears and remove the meat.
  2. Cut the Lobster: Cut the lobster meat into large chunks, ensuring they are dry. Pat them dry with paper towels if necessary.
