HOMEMADE TURTLE CANDY WITH PECANS AND CARAMEL

Ingredients:

  • Pecans: 1 cup (halves or pieces, depending on your preference)
  • Soft Caramels: 1 cup (unwrap if they are individually wrapped)
  • Heavy Cream or Milk: 2 tablespoons (to help melt the caramels)
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate: 1 cup (chips or chopped from a bar)
  • Sea Salt: A pinch (optional, for sprinkling on top)

Instructions:

Prepare the Pecans:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Toast the pecans on a baking sheet for about 5-7 minutes, or until they become aromatic. This step is optional but enhances the flavor.
  3. Cool the pecans and arrange them in clusters of 4 or 5 on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving some space between each cluster. Try to form a “Y” or circular shape with the pecans to support the caramel and chocolate later.
